listen there is no reason to fight over this, Bottom line, drop a cam in that car or change injectors and you'll be a mass air user yourself.. Thats not opinion thats fact. The SD uses Manifold Vacuum to make its decisions.. not very accurate.

wasnt there a guy on here that ran a big cam and heads on a SD car? 88workcar i thinks. said something about messing with fuel psi and timeing and making it work.

SD is finicky about cams normally. If you keep the cam below 220* duration @ .050" lift and keep lobe seperation at about 114* or more and you will most likely not have problems. For Example, the Crower 15510 cam is a well known excellent SD cam and the Crower 15511 is kinda on the edge of working well - many guys have no problems and some do.

tmoss- how about 1.6 or 1.7 roller rockers? how much power are they worth on a sd motor?

roller rockers will be worth it even on your lawn mower... go for that no matter what.

If you have problems with a SD car, give it a fricken tune up. I can't believe the anti-speed density bull is still as strong as it is.
Yes, 88workcar ran both an E303 and B303 cam with heads and intake modifications on speed density. I believe he was knocking on the 11 second door. Quite frankly, MAF without tuning mods to the computer will make LESS horsepower than speed density. The main problem with a speed density system is that it cannot measure air volume like MAF so it reaches the maximums of it's built in adjustment tables without some tuning help. I've seen speed density cars run great with 24lb/hr injectors on them. Let's see a MAF car do that without a recalibrated sensor. |
1.7 roller rockers might be worth a couple HP depending on the cam/head and intake flow capability - if a little more lift will give more power, then 1.7s could be a good move. I'd run rollers if I could on any motor - even 1.6 ratio.
