Griffin radiator
 

anyone using one, input pro or con appreciated..



my car runs at 200-210, with a 195 stat installed and a bottle of water wetter (lower'd the temp about 3 deg). going to try a 180 stat tonight, and if that does'nt lower the temp, it's a new radiator.. is $189.00 new, a decent price?


200-210 is'nt too bad, but last night sitting in traffic it again rose to 220 and at that temp the lifters start making noise, oil pressure shows 20 psi at idle..... fingers crossed

I recently bought the 27" x 19" Griffin radiator from summit. The look/ quality is great, but the installation is a pain. If you are going to use the original fan shroud after installing the radiator, I would suggest getting a different style radiator. The fan shroud will fit up next to the new radiator, but the lower hose will prevent you from putting the overflow tank back on. I'm still unsure of how I am going to put the overflow tank back on, but if you would like, I could post a picture of what mine looks like. Take care, Keith.

No complains here about my griffen. I did get an anode radiator cap to protect the aluminum. Also a good idea to change antifreeze a little more often than with the original one. Unless you want to buy a new one every few years. :rolleyes:

That is the way to go, dude. Everyone around here uses that radiator and its cheaper from summit than from Griffin(they want over $300). You will need different hoses though.. I have the part numbers around here somewhere, if I can find them. I've heard about the shroud problem but I got an electric fan at the same time, fits ok but... I have to unbolt the fan to get the belts on.

I love my Griffin.

Mine bolted up fine - no issues with the overflow tank or stock fan shourd.

won't drive it till it's right, hate to ruin the motor...



I have to change hoses? damn, and i just put new ones on!!

I actually used the same hoses. They were a little hard to fit on the radiator, but they worked without any modifications. All in all I like my radiator, I just should have bought an electric fan at the time I bought the radiator. Take care, Keith

I remembered this morning why I have to unbolt the fan to get the belts on... its because of the blower crank pulley.
