Thanks for the advice and the information. One last question. I just noticed CHP or it might have been DSS - anyway, I could buy a 306 shortblock outright for about $1,500 to $1,700. If a stock rebuild would cost me $1,200, like Dark_5.0 said, wouldn't it make sense to just buy a brand new, pro-built shortblock? This way I could still drive the car until the new motor was ready.
