Default Question about engine rubuilding

Hi there i have a 86 gt with a 302, im geting the kit to rebuild it and it ask ask about the rod and main bearings being under sized or standard. is mine standard of undersize.

Well, you really have to take the engine apart first. Depending on what the crank looks like, (whether it can be polished up, or refinished) will depend on what bearings you'll need. If you can polish the crank back, you should be able to use the standard bearings. If the crank needs to be re-chromed, you'll need the undersize, since the diameter of the crank will be larger than before.

I'm in the same boat right now. Anyone actually gone through this from start to finish with a re-chrome?

You'll have to pull the crank out and bring it to a machine shop and see what they need to do to it. or if you have a micrometer or calipers you can check it yourself. if the journals are tapered or scored real bad it will need to be turned.
