![]() Okay this is my first time building anything so take it easy on me lol! I'm building a set of DOOE casting 351 heads for my 302, and I've got some questions about how to set up the valvetrain. I want to use roller rockers, but I'm not sure if I can use them without guideplates, can I? If not what's going to hold the roller in line with the valve tip? If I don't have to use guideplates and screw in studs, I use the stud type not the "pedistal" type correct? If I do have to use screw in's and guideplates I found this on ebay http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eb...505436&r=0&t=0 do you guru's out there think that looks like a decent set just from reading about it, or should I just go with all ARP? What kind of rocker do you guys suggest for a street motor that will never see over 6000-6100 rpm's? Also, I know I need to get stepped head bolts since the 351's had bigger bolts than 302's, but where can I find them? Does ARP have a site I can search through? Thanks for any help you can provide!! -Mark

![]() edelbrock sells head bolt bushing kits, you can use to put 351 heads on a 302, if you use guide plates you have to get hardened pushrods also, i think those heads are pedestal mount rockers.

![]() Not sure, but I think it's Crane that has recently come out with roller rockers that work for that without guideplates - they have downward projections or stubs on either side of the tip roller that go alongside the valve tip and keep the rocker aligned.
