id say look in the wreckers for a 96 explorer, those heads can be found on them, and you might be able to get them for a good price.

I was under the understanding that the heads used on the explorer were the gt 40 p's not the orginal GT 40 as used on the 93 cobra, please if any one knows correct me if I am wrong.

Also when shopping through the wreakers how will I be able to tell th difference between the GT40 vs GT40P vs E7TE heads

thanks

I do know that the gt40p have a revised sparkplug position vs the GT40, I am looking for casting marks numbers .. ect.

thanks

Like said before, you should search the junkyards and a very good way to do this is through this website :
www.uneedapart.com
This is a site where you enter your info and it send e-mails to junkyards though out america with your info and they search their inventory for parts you need and if they have it they e-mail you back with info on it such as price warrenty and so on. It would be worth a try. But thats my 2 cents! Good luck!

A gt-40 head will have 3 bars cast into the head on the side towards the front of the car. The gt40p head will have 4 bars marked on it. Also there will be a "gt" cast into the gt40 head, and a "gtp" cast into the gt40p head.

96 and earlier V8 Exploders had the GT40 heads in them, not the P's. It was the left over 93 Cobra heads, but the only difference is the 93 Cobra's have a smaller cc's cause Ford shaved the head to give it a little more power. Other than that it is the SAME head!

Why not the GT40P's? I just bought a set. Just ask Jeff Chambers how well they work. Most people either dont know about them or dont want to buy the headers for them.

The reason I don't want the P's is because I just dropped a couple hundred on headers for my stang and don't want to do that again if I don't have to.

thanks for all the info...

you guys kick a**... I mean chevs

does any one know how much the head was shaved, if so will I have any problems if I shave these rebuilt heads (once i find them) and install on a stock 88 sd mustang?
