If you over torqued your h-pipe clamps, preventing the pipes from spinning within themselves somewhat when the clamps are loosened, cutting the hangers isnt going to help you as much, for obvious reasons. If you just snug down the exhaust pipe clamps, so the pipes will still rotate, but not come apart, when the clamps are loosened, cutting the hangers helps a lot.
