h pipe

i have decided on the h pipe over the x pipe. i was wondering wheyher it makes a big difference which company u buy from? which company do u guys suggest?

do they have a site or do u know where i can get a mac exhaust?

I would go with BBK. Headers, H-pipe, etc... My friends have mac and aren't happy with them, there headers have seperate flanges, unlike BBK that has one 3/8 flange. Now I know some of you guys have mac and like them, so don't flame me. Also I ordered my BBK off-road H-pipe from summit. Fit perfect, great craftmanship. My friend ordered the summit H-pipe and it didn't come with certain parts, and it fit like crap, so....Just my opinion.

Yeah I would go with BBK also, just a easier header fit with the one flange. I have a set of shorties and a set of BBK long tubes and they went on like a charm.

I have the full MAC system and absolutely love the sound of it. There's no exhaust system IMO that sounds better. I have the long tube headers, Pro Chamber crossover, and the cat-back. As for the quality, now that's another story. Everything rusted in a matter of a few weeks. The fit was great though, but the headers were a bit of a pain.

The MAC stuff was good quality 7 yrs. ago, but the last (stuff) i got from them was and is **** . very hard to put on rusted fast. long tubes h pipe, the tailpipes seem to be good.

I agree, MAC has definately gone downhill. I had to chop up my catylitic h-pipe to get it to fit, plus the passenger side O2 sensor was a pain in the @ss to get in because it hit the bellhousing. I got a Bassani X-pipe and it fit PERFECTLY.

if your doing full exh., stick with one company. i would say that i have heard completely mixed opinions about all exh. companies.

I have MAC full length headers, cat H pipe MAC, and cat back also MAC. The fit isn't the greatest and the quality isn't all that hot either. My H pipe has had a slight leak since I've bought it. But you get what you pay for.

So far my experience has been that MAC is cheap in price, and some parts are good, but its sometimes a guessing game. Mainly, go with what you can afford, or look to see if anyone is selling something used thats in good shape.

I used to have mac headers, bassani x-pipe, and flowmasters and I had no problems. I swapped out the macs for dynomax and the fit was terrible. Why did you choose the H over the X? Theres a comparison in the new Race Pages. The X definately makes more power.

I've have the Bassani X-pipe, and I've had the Mac off road and catalytic H-pipes and I can say that the H-pipe sounds a little better with flowmasters, but the X-pipe definately makes more power, especially top end. I would go X.

Generally, X-pipes make more horsepower and H-pipes make more torque. So, its kinda whatever floats your boat.

I personally like the sound of the h-pipe alot better it just seems like their is no seperation of cylinders with an x-pipe its like a constant drone instead of growl.but they are supposed to make more power.I just got the cheap pace setter off road h-pipe and im using mac equal length shortys with 2 chamber flowmasters.the sound is loud enough to set off car alarms from like 50 feet but still isnt annoying inside the car(to me)

Bassani says that the X-pipe sounds best with a straight through type muffler. I've yet to see what it sounds like with a straight through one though.
