![]() Is there anyway to put a 351W based stoker in a fox body with a stock hood?

![]() I seriously doubt it. I'm running a 351w in my "82GT with a 2.5 inch cowl hood and the carb. is very close to the top of the hood.
When I had the stock hood, I had to cut a hole in the hood to make the factory scoop functional so the hood would shut.

![]() what if I used dropped engine mounts and a new k member? This is for a fuel injected engine.

![]() If you can drop it about 2 inches then I would say it would work. I don't know how far drop engine mounts go.

![]() Someone has to help me out with this. I am going to be using a Edelbrock super vic intake converted to EFI and a holley TB. The intake is 6.25 inches from deckhieght to TB mounting flange.
With drop mounts and a k member that moves the engine back an inch, is it do-able to put this engine under a stock looking hood? This is a serious question.

![]() just spring for a new hood. I haven't seen any Fox body running a 351 without a cowl, so if you can do it you will be unique.
I like the looks of a nice cowl on a fox though... yummy. XR1stang

![]() I highly doubt that you can make it fit. even with drop mounts you will run into problems with the headers goin too low. as it is my dad and i but a 351 in his 82 and we had a hard time finding headers that would fit in there. the ones we got to fit come down low to the ground at normal hieght.
and the motor sticks up pretty high im guessing if you did lower the mounts 2 inches you would still need a cowl hood. i could be wrong though, im just giving you some things to think of.

![]() I forgot to mention something. The engine set higher in my '82 so the fan was also higher which means that it will also interfer with the stock hood.
I would just get the cowl hood. You will have a better looking mustang and take weight off the front end at the same time.

![]() im not positive but i thought that the sway bar in front came close to the oil pan, lowering the mounts would make this interfere wouldnt it???

![]() I am trying to build a stock looking car (ie sleeper). I was going to replace the hood with a lightweight fiberglass hood that looks stock for wieght savings. But it looks like I will need a cowl. Thanx guys.
