Unhappy Problem w/Acceleration and Fuel Line?? Please Help!!

Well as you can tell I WONT BE HAVING A GOOD HOLIDAY WEEKEND W/THE STANG...

Question: What could be causing this problem?? My car's acceleration has been getting worse and worse over the past couple of month's but now I just cant take it anymore. When I hit the gas my car pulls off real slow. I have the run the rpm's up to about 5000 in order for the car to move. Eventually it picks up speed once I get into the higher gears. But the lower gears are almost at a crawl.

A friend of the family who is a mechanic said that he thought that the fuel injectors probably just need cleaning but I'm starting to think that its more than that. Could it possibly be the fuel pump dying?? or something else??

Any help w/this problem will be geatly appreciated!! Here's my car's specs below:

92 Mustang Gt 5.0
95k miles
5 speed w/a 6 month old clutch
**I also had a tuneup less than a year ago

Check the fuel pressure. Less than 40 is too low. Isn't this right guys. Really out of my ballywick since I'm a carbed guy.

speedracer2001: you'll have better luck if I move this to the Windsor Power Forum.

I'd check the condition of your plugs. They'll be able to tell you what's going on more than anything. Also, check the color of the spark by removing a plug wire, connecting a spare plug to it, and lay it somewhere you can see easily and that can act as a ground (plug won't fire if it's not grounded). Crank the engine over and see what color the spark is. Anything other than a white to blue spark is bad, usually indicative of a bad coil. I suggest starting with the ignition system because it's the easiest and quickest system to diagnose. Good luck.

If the engine is running and the rpms go up then it sounds like your transmission is slipping. Check the fluid level of your tranny.

By the way, if it is a problem with injectors, I have set of factory 19# injectors I'll sell you cheap. They have less than 12K miles on them.

If your engine is revving but your not going anywhere it is probably in your clutch(not engaging all the way or slipping really bad). Does it do this in all the gears including reverse?

I agree, if it runs fine and revs fine then it sounds more like a tranny or clutch problem then a fuel problem. Especially if it's been very gradual.

Sorry, I thought we were talking about an automatic tranny. I agree, must be the clutch.
