So What do you have NOW? What budget do you have?
What is your displacement?
What is your compression ratio?
What is your piston type?
What is your rod length?
What are you willing to do on the exhaust end?
What is your current exhaust?

I have Trick Flow Twisted Wedge Heads, I have them ported to the 1261S felpro gasket. This puts them at 1 5/8 wide, 2 1/4 tall. This is just a 1/4 inch smaller than the 428 cobra jet head, which was identical to the 427 low riser head.

I am using a 246/256 @ .050 duration; .496 .519 lift cam;

Edelbrock RPM dual plane MODIFIED and ported to match heads.

Exhaust is ported to exhaust gasket.

1 5/8" primaries, 3" collectors, 2.5 inch tubes with H crossover.

This is a terrific street/highway set up. I would be running 540/560 lift with the same duration for bracket racing.

With 11/1 compression. The strip cam would produce somewhere around 475-490 HP at 6600 RPM. Buy the Trick Flow R heads and 550 HP are yours right out of the box. 575 HP with minor port cleanup.

Just pick your poison.....street or strip. Then we can get down the particulars. (I would go with a Victor Intake for the strip engine, using an AOD with 3,800 Stall converter or a Tremec or Doug Nash 5 speed with a 15 to 1 first gear and a 3.9 to 4.3 rear end ratio.

By the way my 13.7 times came with an extremely mild cam. I just replaced it with a street rod cam. (wants a 2500 stall converter and slicks). After the motor is broken in, we will get some new ET's posted.

The car is considerably faster now, and we haven't even had the chance to get up on it yet.

Depends on your budget man.

On one hand you could go all out with some AFr 165 heads, trick Flow track heat Intake, and a custom cam

or

You could go pretty cheap and get ported GT40p's, a ported Cobra intake and like an E-303 cam.

there was a guy at the track yesterday with Trick Flow heads, trick Flow Intake and what sounded like a not overly nasty but not stock sounding cam that made 330 rwhp and runs like mid 12's in the 1/4.

Later,
nick
