Re: head gaskets
Read this from another website.
Engineered specifically for these applications, the new Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS gasket set provides the robust combustion seal needed to contain extreme combustion pressures and temperatures common to naturally aspirated, turbo/supercharged and nitrous-equipped performance engines. Each gasket is composed of five layers of fully-hardened stainless steel, precisely engineered sealing beads and a sophisticated stopper layer similar to the Fel-Pro technology that has won dozens of Nextel Cup events and which seals defending Cup champion Kurt Busch’s engines. The new head gaskets feature 3.425-inch bores and offer a compressed thickness of .055-in. for compressed volume of 8.3 cubic centimeters. “PermaTorqueMLS has enjoyed tremendous success in NASCAR, NHRA and IHRA racing, as well as in high-output street engines,” said Fel-Pro Performance Products Manager Ron Rotunno. “We’re pleased to bring the proven benefits of this Fel-Pro technology to engine builders and enthusiasts in the performance category.” Unlike other MLS head gaskets, Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS gaskets feature a proprietary aftermarket coating that accommodates a wider range of surface finishes than do other MLS gaskets. The PermaTorqueMLS design also allows for lateral and vertical motion of the cylinder head – caused by combustion pressures and extreme temperatures – without compromising sealing performance. Many automotive engines are now factory-equipped with multi-layer steel head gaskets, which are able to provide long-term combustion and fluid sealing in spite of lighter-weight head and block castings and increased operating temperatures. Fel-Pro PermaTorqueMLS technology delivers a complete, durable seal in these challenging operating conditions and with less-than-perfect surface finishes. Another good read |
Re: head gaskets
I hope that's a typo bro. 3.425" bore would be hanging in my combustion chamber! LOL
"MLS" means Multi-layer steel. I've had AWESOME luck with Fel Pro 1011-2 gaskets, but I've been seriously considering Cometics or Jeff Chambers said go with the Mr. Gasket's, they're Cometics packaged for Mr. Gasket, and are a few bucks cheaper. That's the first I've read about Fel Pro's MLS gaskets, gonna have to consider those as well! |
Re: head gaskets
That was actually from one of the search results where they were talking about using them on some mistubishi engine. It is a copy and paste. And it's obvious that I didn't read all of it. LOL! The bore should be 4.100 on standard windsors.
