Anyone good at reading rearend tags?

This is what the rear end tag says that I just bought.

S229B
3L27 88 4D18

All I can make out is the 8.8. Anyone know what year this is or anything from the codes?

I do know that the 3L27 stands for: 3.27:1 gears, Locker.
