Also is port velocity of major importance to the 302 ci ford SB

i.e

Mopar 318( wont list the goodies for breviety). '87 #302 swirl port heads 1.88/1.60 valves and Cam .450/.455 lift, dur 268/272=330 hp at 5750 rpm

Same 318 but w/ 360 heads = 290 HP at 5750rpm

Port velocity is important to the 318 what about ur 302 or am I take a big toke off the crack bong

What recommendations could you give us for building this 71 valiant. It has a brand new 360 in it right now. Id like to get it in the 12's, or high 13's on a budget.

Thanks

go to this website, they got some packages u can look at and get an Idea. ( http://www.geocities.com/alwest_83/dyno )

Dont overcam it go with either a 484 to 509 lift cam. prob around 484.

Stock specs for the older 360's on their comp ratio was a little over rated. so get the compression up to 9.5-1 or I would go for 10-1

Try to get a set of 340 heads w/2.02 intake valves (seen a set for 500.00 last year ) W2's or the Commando heads if u want to spend the cash. My choice would be ported 340's when on a budget.

LD340 intake or an equivilent aluminum dual plane.

2500 or so stall maybe a tad more if its an auto tranny

4.10 or so, rear gears

700-750 carb. pref a holley spin-off type

That would be what I would start with. I like to go N/A, all motor, and no nitros, but thats just me.

Once he gets the horsepower package down I got one word and thats SUSPENSION AND SUSPENSION AGAIN. Get it to the pavement. I'm about 15 yrs out of date so look at some of the new stuff out there. Its not hard to get it in the 13's or even high 12's

What does it run in the 1/4 rite now?

I dont know stock flow #s but there are some site taht hve em. I know my trick flows are about 250 intake and 190 exhaust at .500 lift. Bout dead even w/ AFRs 165.

Edelbrocks are lower

Holleys around 235 and 180 @ .500.

Not sure about anything else, but their respective sites should have it.
