from what I've heard, header wraps cause the pipes to rust quicker.. I never had a prob with the starter going out on my 68 from the headers.. thats usually a chevy prob, they have the solenoid mounted on the starter instead of on the fender like a ford..
ceramic coated headers would help keep the heat down.. but cost alot more.. a heat shield would be next... wraps should be the LAST thing to try.. IMO anyway ;-)
