Default Header Installation problems-'79 stang

Hi all, I recently have installed a set of Mac long tube headers into my '79 5.0 and what a pain in the ass project that turned out to be. Anyway, now that they are in and bolted down, The starter just barely dosn't fit anymore and the headers are rubbing up against the car body in various places. I have since been informed that the '79 thru about '84 models are much narrower then later fox bodies.
Has anyone have any experience with this issue?

I've never heard of them being narrower before, I think its more the quality of the header. On my BBK long tubes i had to "massage" the body in a couple of places as well. As for the starter, you should probably switch to a mini starter.

That bit of info about the narrower body came from the good people at Dallas Mustang. They were refering to the room available within the engine bay. In addition since mine has the automatic trany, They said I had even less room. The also suggested a mini starter as well as ditching the C4 in favor of an AOD. How did you go about "Massaging" your 'stangs body to gain clearance?
