Heads/Cam????
Well I decided to do the Heads and Cam (I posted a message a while back "Heads or Nitrous"). I was thinking about GT-40 Turbo Swirl Aluminum heads and a E303 cam. And later a GT-40 intake. Does this combo sound okay or do you guys have a better suggestion? I was also thinking about Edelbrock setup? But not sure about it. Also anyone know of a book that will help with the instalation process? Thanks in advance.

What is your budget for the heads and cam? The Edelbrock's are good heads, but there are definitely better heads out there if your bank account will allow. As mentioned, the AFR's are one of the better heads on the market.
As far as installing tips, don't forget to add all the prices for gaskets, oil, RTV, coolant, new lifters (if necessary) new timing chain, new pushrods (again, if necessary, etc.... All the little things add up to alot of money on top of the price of the heads and cam. How many miles on your motor? What other mods do you have? ------------------ MAC equal length headers, MAC Off-Road H-Pipe, Flowmaster mufflers, 373's, March ram-air kit, underdrive pulleys, 73mm MAF, 75mm TB, Saleen Intake (ported), Edelbrock 6037 heads (ported, polished, 3 angle valve-job 255CFM @.500), 1.6 FMS RR's, Wolverine 1087 Cam, 24lb injectors, MSD 6AL, Subframe connectors, Griggs Adustable Lower Control Arms, Lakewood 50/50 shocks, SSM Upper Control Arms... and probably some more in there I forgot |

Personally I would save your money and get a set of GT-40 irons. Have them fully ported with bigger valves and get a good intake with a decent cam like the Crane Compucam 2031. Look at my sig. I run high 12's untuned, with ported GT-40's, stock intake, stock throttle body, stock bottom end with 128,000 miles on it and a stock cam to top it off. When i get my 2031 cam in this week with my intake it should be deap into the 12's for a fraction of the cost. Also those times are on a full weighted 87 GT on slicks.

Money is not an issue, just emissions. Since I live in CA it needs to pass smog.
Thanks for all your help. |
