Heads: Edelbrock vs. TFS
I've seen TFS guys push close to 400 HP, but I hear Edelbrock Performer 5.0 is really good on the street. I'll need something streetable and driveable down to about 1700 RPMs. Probably have World Class T5 and 4.10 with a decently large cam. What's the comparison for the TFS, Performer 5.0's, and Performer RPMs?

well, i personally like the trick flows, but as for something streetable down at 1600rpms, its not the heads, but the cam, if you use the tfs heads & intake on a stock motor, ive seen a guy run 12.7 with the stock cam on a 98 gt.
i am going with the trick flow. later... ------------------ 1988 Mustang GT, T-5 3.08's, No Smog Pump (Shorty Belt), Dumps At The End Of Stock H-Pipe, K&N Air Filter (Stock Air Box), Removed air silendcer), 198.9 rwhp @4200 (235 Motor!!), 285 lbs-ft @2900 (336 Motor!!!). Trick Flow Twisted Wedge heads are not only excellent higher rpm flowing, but they perform great down low too.
The TFS heads have the Edelbrocks whooped. |

My buddy is stock cammed w/ GT-40 intake and unported(per say) Iron GT-40 heads. He has gone 12.40
I am doing the edelbrocks right now(should be done in two weeks) They are ported pretty good...not too opened up but cleaned really well. W/ the extrude honed cobra intake...i am expecting to go about 12.00-12.20 That is b-cam w/ 1.7's If you go w/ the TFS..make sure you get 2nd gen heads...my other buddy sent 3 sets back from valve guide problems. They only lasted about 5000 miles each. Performance wise....i think they are about close. I wouldn't go performer rpm...they are 2.02 valves......so are the twisted wedge..but i know people w/ the tfs heads and no fly-cut pistons...don't know anyone w/ rpm's...so don't know if they work...edelbrock say's "no" w/ stockers. ------------------ 4.10's,long tubes & 75 shot...Goes 12.50's Check it out at http://www.burnouts.webprovider.com 11's coming soon!!!! Heads, intake and cam are all here |
