Heater Core???

My heater core went today in my 84 Capri, and
was wondering how hard it really is? The car originally had A/C. Do I really have to pull the hole dash out? This is what i've heard.
I need to drive this car everyday,so I need to do it the easiest way possible.
I know it probably sounds like a rig job,but
some a$$hole stole my truck Sat. night.I got it back and it's going to take a while for the insurance B/S to go through. The good thing is they caught the guy.(immigrant) http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...gboard/mad.gif

Any help would be appreciated. http://www.mustangworks.com/interact...rd/biggrin.gif

Thanks Guys/Gals

I did mine in my 88GT. You do have to take the dash out completely.

It took my Dad and I over 6 hours to complete the job.

Good luck!

Don't take the dash all the way out. I did mine in about 3 1/2 hours. You will have to loosen the drivers side and remove all the hardware on the passenger side, but there's enough room to wedge a small piece of 2x4 or other item to hold the dash out, off the firewall to do the job. You can take the dash all the way out, it just saves some time doing it this way.

It took me a long time. Around 6 hours too. Dash all they way out. You'll probably bust up the HVAC box otherwise.

Best thing to do is set aside a weekend day (devoting about 5-8 hrs, this being your first time). Take your time and do it right. It is easy to break something if you rush it. Don't ever try to yank it out if something won't give. There's a lot of braces (at least for big ones).

Yeah it kinda sucks, but you learn more about your car and it's worth the time compared to paying some shop ~$400 to do the work.
