Default Heater Core Help

Hi All,
I have a 1989 Mustang GT with AC that started leaking Antifreeze onto the floor this morning. I only drive the car occassionally in the summer and never use the heater or the AC. Is there a safe way to bypass the Heater Core without having it lead to other problems like overheating? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
Chad
