Help adjusting my clutch cable.....Please!!!
Greetings to all,
My first post: I drive a 92 5.0L LX Sedan... I have replaced my clutch and cable with an aftermarket one. I assume my cable needs adjustment beacause I feel a bit of a slack or shudder when releasing. Once my mechanic went under the dash with a wrench and adjusted it. I'm not sure as to what to do...loosen the bolt that hold the pedal , pull up and tighten. I do not want to fiddle not knowing what to do. Can someone please shed some light on this. I will stand by. Thanks. |
did you get the new quadrent and everything or just the adjustable cable.

Thank you for replying...no just the cable ...

If you left the stock quadrant, it's "self adjusting". Reach down, grab ahold of your clutch pedal, pull it up towards the dash. Kinda hard. You'll hear sort of a "zip" sound. Then you should be all set. If it doesn't move, or adjust, you've got issues elsewhere.

When I had my stock quadrent it would not adjust. I had to reach up under the dash and pull it back by hand. I got tired of that and just put an adjustable quadrent and cable in it.

Thank you for your replies...I am aware of lifting the pedal.I was just under the impression that there is another way by loosening the pedal, pulling up and retightening. I would use my foot to pull up....maybe I was not pulling up hard enough because I would hear no sound. I will use my hand and pull much harder this time. I will let you know if it works. Until later.
Thanks !!! |
how old is the clutch, if it is shuttering when engaged then the clutch needs replacing or is glazed and the flywheel needs tro be ground and resurfaced.. how many miles on the clutch?
