Help! Hood won't fit! Cowl hood guys please read!
Got the new engine in today (for the '88 GT) and the stock hood won't fit! I'm using a 1" intake spacer with a GT-40 intake to fit 3 3/4" tall FMS valve covers. Does anyone have this combo? If so what height cowl hood (Cervinis prefered) do I need (1 1/2" or 2 1/2")???
Thanks for the help! http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/confused.gif ------------------ '88 GT: GT40X Heads, 1.6 RR, GT40 upper&lower, E303 cam, 70mm TB, 75MM ProM, 24# injectors, 150 lph feul pump, MAC cold air, 2 chamber Flo's, MAC unequal headers, Flexlite fan (yuk), Cobra R wheels '94 Lightning: White, bone stock '99 GT: Chrome yellow, bone stock |
I say go with the 2.5" Cervini Hood, that is what I use and it cleared my GT40 Intake with 1" spacer just fine.
I know have a Victor JR and Holley Carb WITH air cleaner and it still clears. my .02 |
I just got my 2-1/2 cowl from Cervinis it only took two days and shipping was around $70, my 351w with a trick flow R intake fits nice under the hood. The Cervini hood has a great fit and finish you will not go wrong with it. |
I have a 4" Cervini's on mine to clear my Holley with 1.25" spacer that barely clears my monster Sheet Metal valve covers, my friends kid me about it looking like a Big Block. Remember it isn't the intake that is the issues a lot of the time, it is the intake tube, this is where you need to be careful. My C&L 76mm tube clears the side of the rasied cowl by about 1/2" the intake has another 1.25" or so before it will hit the hood. My vote is for the 4", never know what the future holds.
