HELP! Installing gear drive.
I am installing a gear drive on 89 302 H0. It is a cloyes model. Also am installing a crane 2020 cam.
When I put the cam sprocket on, it binds and the cam does not turn. I put the brass washer behind the cam sprocket that came with it. I came to the conclussion that the sprocket is binding on the thrust plate for the cam. I tried to center the thrust plate and it was better but still binding when the sprocket was completely seated. It goes on the sprocket fine out of the engine and the stock cam sprocket fits fine. Can I grind out the inside of the thrust plate? Is the gear drive wrong/deffective? Any opinions? Any other info needed, just ask.
