Help me please!!!!!!

OK, If you didnt see my post last week, I swapped in my gt40's, my cobra intake, and the 1.6rr and the 65mm tb. It was backfiring like crazy when I started it up, so I checked the valves. The rr took like 1 3/4 turns to get to 20ft/lds after zero lash. I got shims today now all the rr took between a little over 1/4 and about 3/4 of a turn to get to 20 ft/lbs. The car is still backfiring, mostly through the intake. Have any of you guys had any problems related to this? All the parts came off my buddies car, which was running great before and after he wrecked it. I am totally baffled by this. I havent had a car to drive in almost two weeks. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help, John

you double checked your sparkplug wires right?

also make sure you lined your Distributor back up in the right place. IE, it points to number one cylinder when it should.

My brother unknowingly put his distributor on in the wrong position, the car started but was popping and ran like crap. He finally figured it out and the car ran like a charm.

Timing........

Hey! Been a long time posting...........but I firmly believe your problem is timing related.

We figured it out last night, it was the damn coil of all things. If the coil wire was attached to the post on the top of it it wouldnt even want to start at all, but if you held the wire about one inch away from it, spark would arc over to it and the motor would start right up and sound great. I cannot believe all these probs were because of the damn coil. Oh well, Im gonna pick a new one up today and see what happens. - John
