Man Have I got a deal for you. Hanlon Motorsports sells a manual AND a video that can teach a monkey how to rebuild your Tremec, I'm living proof. Give Linda a call at 610-469-2695.

I just finished rebuilding a T-5 (and yes it works) and am awaiting another kit to redo the youngest son's transmission.

give em a try, you'll like dealing with them too. Nice folks.

http://www.hanlonmotorsports.com thats how you can get ahold of them.

i had to replace
1-2 slider
3-4 slider
all synchros
1-2 shift fork
3-4 shift fork
output shaft
shift fork pads
3rd gear

all this damage cause i was too f-ing lazy to buy a short throw, needless to say i beat the shiznit out of my cars.

it ended up costing me over $500 if all yours is doing is grinding a little you probably only need synchros and you might as well change the shift fork pads while your in there. (change all the synchros whether they need it or not)

i think the synchros cost me 70-80$ for the set, and the pads are only around $1.00 a piece i think

and i still have the stock shifter on the one that grinds when i downshift into 4th the other has a pro 5.0 on it let me know thanks

the video shows you step by step, i had never even seen the inside of a trans, when i rebuilt my tremec (with the video). they made it for beginners.
they also show you what to look for in the parts that could be worn out. they will compare a good one and a bad one in the video, so that way you can tell what you have to replace.

shift forks dont bend they break, it usually gets stuck in gear when that breaks.

your second gear problem is most likely your synchro, but if you drove it a lot with it grinding you might have ruined your 1-2 slider too.

id put a short throw on every manual trans you own....it ended up costing me $500+ because i was too lazy to put a short throw on it.

the earlier tremecs your going to need a pair of snap ring pliers

the newer ones you dont, they use spacers instead of the rings
(for some reason, mine had a combination of both)
you will also need a small punch for the pins

other than that its just basic hand tools

advice: BE PATIENT, DONT RUSH, AND MAKE SURE YOU PUT ALL THE PARTS WHERE "NONE" WILL GET LOST!

good luck
