Help! - Pedistal Rocker Question
My pedistal roller rockers seemed to go on as stated in the intructions. I had about 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn after the pushrod made contact to bolt tightening.
When I did the final torque I noticed that the valves seemed to be opening slightly during that last 3/4 of a turn. Is this normal. Do they bleed back? Have I #$%^&@ up???? Help. Tell me all is fine. Please. |
When i installed my 1.7's a little while back, i knew the instructions said 1 turn, but that was hard for me to determine, since my torque wrench would hit the hood before i could go 3/4 of a turn, i didnt use shims, but may have needed them, i guess it was'nt to far off since i felt, and saw a pretty good gain in performance, and e.t.s and mph, i didnt trap over 100mph until i insatlled my crane rr's, took me a couple hours, and im happy, almost in the 12's with stock heads cam and intake.
if you think it opend your valve then use shims, i doubt you need them unless you have had your heads milled, or machined at one time. |
Apply compressed air to the spark plug hole at each cylinder when it's at TDC, and feel for air at the intake and exhaust ports. If none comes out, your more than likely fine.

Chris is correct, just make sure the cylinder is on the compression stroke at TDC.
Sorry for the correction Chris, but that is often over looked:) Murdock |
No apologies are necessary, that's a very good point!
