Sounds like one of your air bag sensors is going bad, the buzzing is coming from the air back control panel which is a small box behind the A/C controllers.

Mystery leaks suck, I had a issue like that on my stock motor, it would loose water and I would never find it in the oil, exhaust or on the ground. How much do you loose? It could have a seeping head gasket and just burn it, you would never see that in the exh. You could do a leak down test, compression test and pressurize the cooling system to try to track it down. Your 160 thermo is too low though, it will not let the radiator do its job effectivly since the thero is basically all the way open all the time it doesn't have enough time to cool down, even though yours is running cool.

Leave your hod up and see where the smoke is coming from next time, sounds like something is shorting out maybe the starter solidnoid on the drivers side shock tower, or if the starter is getting heat soaked and will not start, the smoke is not good...be carefull so it doesn't catch fire.
