Angry HELP PLEASE, CAR WONT START!!!!!

had to replace the head gasket and the front seal (new short block only 100+ miles)..

got it all back together and it won't fire!!!

I have checked the timing mark on the crank and distributer alignment with the #1 plug.. checked the firing order about 10 times, 15426378, (cam sez to use this firing order),,,,

checked the pos into the coil, it has power..

but if I pull a plug and ground it, I can't see any spark.....

Any ideas?????????? I am so confused......

Dude, if you have an H.O. use 1-3-7-2-6-5-4-8

How old is the coil, did you test it with an Ohm meter for resistance..?

How old are the plug wires? You could have a cracked coil wire.

Have you used a spark tester to see if you are even getting spark to distributor..?

JerryIII,

Sounds like a nice car, what does it run?

My car wouldn't start the other day but that was due to a bad battery ground. The bolt to the bumper came loose.

Good Luck getting in the 13's, don't stop till you get there!

Dude,
I've had starting problems before when I've pulled the ditributor. Check the following:
No.1 piston at TDC of the compression stroke, timing marks at TDC on your balancer, distributor rotor aimed at the no.1 spark plug post of the cap. If you are sure you have done all of that and it still doesn't start, then the problem lies elswhere. Good luck!

thx for all the responses, I checked the distributer this morning (after pulling the timing cover to verify), two of the wires had a crack in the insulation, theses two wires were grounding to each other, thus the no start.....

it's running now,, thx again..
