Default Help please - fuel issue

Help please - fuel issue

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have an 85 (produced 7/85) LX5.0 (M code) auto CFI - all original equipment, It ran fine when parked for the winter but now won't start.

It's getting spark and will start with fluid
The injectors are firing
The fuel internia switch is set and good
It's getting only trace amounts of fuel at the bleeder valve
I have 12v at the the tank pump but can't here a pump running
I have unplugged the fuel filter and have no pressure there either

I'm thinking the intank pump went bad??

According to everything I've read there is supposed to be a 2nd inline pump - but for the life of me I can't find it - I traced the lines from front to back.

Any ideas

Thanx Todd

Check both of the fuel pump reays, one under drivers seat one on right side fenderwell right beside the alternator. if you turn the key on and these are not making a ckicking noise, this may be your problem.

It happened to me along with computer grounding problems so I finally said forget it and went carburetor

was this on an 85 or your 87? cause the 87 is completely different setup according to the book?

If he has 12v at the tank, then the relays should be good. Sounds like it's time to upgrade your pump. Be sure to listen for the pump right when the key is turned, after a few seconds the pump will turn off until the car is started. It's priming when you hear it at the begining. Good luck.

I'll second the bad fuel pump. 12V at the pump means the relays and inertia switch are working, so I'll 2nd that too. Check for a good ground for the pump as well.

Starting Fluid????
