Default Best slicks. For 100% hook.

I need a set of 15 inch 26X8 slicks that will hook. I had some ET streets and I spun half of first launching at 3500rpms.

I want some tires that I can dump the clutch at 5000 rpms and launch.

There isnt much racing season left and I would like to hit a 12 before its over.

The slicks are for my 88GT.

Opinions please,

What pressure are you running in those ET streets and what do you do to heat them up? Also what 60ft times are they giving you?

I use 26x10" Hoosier slicks on my old 10hole wheels. I bought them used and they are pretty old (slicks get less sticky as they get old) and they still hook up really well. I normally dump the clutch at around 4500-5000rpm and they stick well. I've been getting low 1.7sec 60ft times with them at a NON-prepped track. The only suspension mods were: MAC upper and lower control arms, subframes, and no front sway bar. I now have 70/30's and am hoping to see some high 1.6's

what are your current ET/mph's? and 60fts?

I ran a 13.69 @101mph @3000ft with a 1.79 60ft. Since then I have added a 65mm TB ,67MM EGR spacer and removed about 100 lbs of weight.

My mods.

ported and polished and milled E7's
Explorer intake "ported"
3/8 phenolic spacer
under drive pullies
65mm TB, 67mm EGR
flex fan
Aeromotive FPR
BBK 1 5/8 equal length headers
O/R X-pipe
2 chamber flow masters
FMS clutch
3.73 gears
steeda tri-ax shifter
Lots of weight reduction.

I still have the stock cam and rockers in there and it is still speed density. My goal is to hit 12's with the stock cam and rockers.

I know the slicks wont get me a 12 but they will be a step in the right direction.

With the mickey thompsons I tried the pressure from 8-20 psi and would always spin them through 1st. I got them used and they might not have been hooking like they would have new

well for maximum grip go 28x8 or 9 or 10 if you have clearence heat them up and play with pressure. also if your suspention is unloading on you the best tires wont stop it.

Default M/T ET drag

I was launching my Cobra on 26x10 15 Mickey Thompson slicks with the 4,600 chip in the rev limiter, and never spun an inch. It was running 12.90 to13.00 just over 100mph

Default slicks

I run Hoosier 26x8.5 in. slicks and they hook awesome. I used to launch at about 5000 rpm. Since my motor upgrade I now have to launch the car at a higher RPM than I did with the stock motor, because the new motor makes alot more top end horsepower but has a slight loss in low end torque at low RPMs. I'm launching at 6000 rpm now so that the RPMs don't drop down below my powerband.

Looks like I made the right choice cause Hoosiers is what I went with.

Thanks for the replies,
