3.8 swap to 5.0, help!
I recently bought a 95 mustang LX. At first I was in love...but after about a month is was unsatisfied with the performance. I came across 1991 mustang 5.0 engine complete with everything from mass air induction to oil pan, water pump to the transmission tailshaft and all parts in between. It also includes the H-Pipe, all the engine acessories including the smog pump, the shifter, and all the engine compartment wiring and the computer for the 5.0 liter engine. My car is a manual so I cannot use the transmission from the 5.0. Will the engine bolt up fine and fit the transmission. Also, will the computer for the 1991 5.0 work in my car fine? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks guys!

Do you have the June 2002 5.0 Mustang & super fords magazine? This will tell you eveything you need to know to do this swap. The 91 computer should work fine. Your V6 tranny will work, but the 91 tranny would be better. Why can't you use the 91 tranny? You didn't say what it was. You seem to have everything you need for the swap. I think you will need the 5.0 throttle cable and linkage. Do you have those? If you can't get your hands on that magazine, holler at me on pm or email. I have it and I am willing to share the info with you.

The T-5 transmission in the 1995 v-6 is the same as the T-5 in the GT and in the Cobra. People will tell you different when you go to get parts. So I don't have to deal with it I just tell them it is a GT and the peices fit fine. so another words you transmission should be fine. I can send you a list of everything you need to do the conversion if you need it.

I'm almost 100% sure the V-6 tranny is weaker....it used weaker componets.
I've debated the motor swap question with my car....and it's just easier(and ususally cheaper) to just sell your car and buy one with a GT already in it, IMO

The v-6 is weaker but the parts at least for me have been interchangeable. I have a couple of parts that steeda said will not fit on my Trany and I bought them any ways and put them on and they work great. But yes v-6 trany is weaker.

You'd need a new bell housing for it too.....it's just get a 5.0 tranny.....a V-6 one would probably get fraged.
