Rocker Ratio.

Could someone tell me what Rocker ratio means, im looking at the crane 1.7 ratio rockers. Anyone running these rockers? Ill be running them with a E cam.

The rocker arm ratio is the ratio, to one, that the camshaft lobe lift will be multiplied by when in use to determine the valve lift. An E cam has a lobe lift of .311". When used with 1.6 rockers, that works out to a valve lift of .498". With 1.7 rockers, that would make the valve lift .529".

Would the stock heads allow that much lift, or what would i have to pgrade on them to allow that much lift?

What's about the most lift you can have with the stock pistons and heads before you run into clearance problems? I'm also going to ask a dumb question now. Does that change with differend heads and same pistons? I wouldn't think it would, but hey, who am I? Thanks for the answers.

A guy i work with has a 93 lx with a 302. at one point he had stock heads and had a .532 lift cam with nothing done to the heads. I've heard of people going as far as a .550 lift with the stock heads. It all depends on alot of things. Of course it differs with different heads and pistons. Your aftermarket heads have higher lift springs and such that allow you to run a much more aggressive cam. If you have any more ?'s pm me.

Duration and valve size play a big role, as well as lift and piston design, and yes, different heads have different specs. The twisted wedge heads, for example, place the valves in different locations, which changes things.
