high volume pump in stock bottom?
Will a high volume oil pump fit in a stock bottom end?

A HV pump will not fir in a stock oil pan, some say you can take a hammer and beat on it but I don't like the idea of that. A HV pump for your application will be more trouble then it is worth. It will pump more oil to the top of the motor then is needed and will cause breathing and draining issues and rob HP since there is 30% more stress on the pump driveshaft.

I ran a Melling HV in my motor with a stock oil pan and didn't have to massage the pan at all. I'll agree though that its not needed. I've gone back to standard volume pumps and have never had an oiling problem with any of my motors...of course the quality of the engine builder has a direct effect on that.

A high volume pump should fit fine but I agree with Jeff, it does depend on the engine builder. The only reson I run an HV pump is because I increased my oil clearance on the bearings.

HV will fit without cleanace problems..high pressure you have to bang the pan out...IMO both are waste of money and create problems(leaks/PVC issues) nuless you are running a motor that needs it..i will never use anything but a good motorsport stock one anymore

A HV pump will fit, well mine did anyway, on a stocker without beating the pan up, but is not worth it, first off to be effective, you must have certain oil passages chamfered to accept the extra oil pressure and you MUST replace the stock driveshaft with a hardened unit, as the stocker will twist like a pretzel.

Thanks for all the replys! My Girlfriend's cousin was wondering about it too. Should I get an OEM replacement, or a Ford Motorsport replacement? I heard that I might need new rod bearings and as long as Im in there I will put a windage tray in, too.

Get a Melling stock replacement and a ARP hardened pump shaft, and you may want to get a new pick up depending on what yours looks like.
