highest horse 302

What year had the highest horse 302?

I am not real sure but I think its prob the 87-93 5.0's...Rated at 225hp

Technically, I think it was the 69-70 302s...they made about 290hp.

You must mean the 69-70 Boss 302

Jeb_Bush_2000 03-27-2002 04:46 PM

Of course. ;)

Unfortunately Pre-'72 ratings were usually not anything like what was installed on the vehicle. That was a gross horsepower rating and was likely underrated as well (For a gross rating), as opposed to net horsepower ratings where the engine is tested like how it would be in the vehicle at the flywheel. It's hard to compare old gross ratings to net ratings, you can really only go by rear wheel horsepower ratings but even that varies with the transmission, but it's at where it counts :D.
Also are you asking for Ford production made 302's or aftermarket?
Also the Boss 302 was more of a Cleveland Engine that it was a windsor because of the canted valve heads/intake manifold, but yes it was a 302.

But yes, it probably is the highest output 302 ever made by Ford.

It's as close an answer as you can expect. Even the '86-'93 engines varied in "official" rating.

I was told that the 94-95s had the same power as the 87-93s, but used a different system, hence seemingly dropping from 225 to 215...Is that true?
