Default HO and Non-HO SD Computers???

Here's the deal; I may be trading my snowmobile for an '85 Mercury with a non-HO 5.0 (plus a 351M and a 460). The engine has a slight knock, but I am mainly interested in swapping the Fuel injection over to my '72 Gran Torino (which has a stock 302). It is my understanding that the non-HO's use the traditional 302 firing order. The main ?? is, my '87 mustang still has the computer in it, would that work with the non-HO system and give any benefits or would the different firing order cause problems? For a stock engine I image the merc computer would work best, but it never hurts to think out loud.

Correct the Non-HO's use the 302 firing order and not the 351 like the HO's. If you want to use the HO EEC from the 87 all you need to do is swap the cam and wires around. Also need to swap to 19# injectors. We did the Non-HO to HO conversion on my brothers 88 T-bird and used all my stock 88GT parts...

Thanks for the info. I'll just use the non-HO computer if I do put it on the Torino then. I don't plan on changing the cam in that car. it gets 20mpg right now, with the EFI it should get a nice increase. Unfortunatly that car is parked until I get a house with a garage and can redo my '97 restoration on it. Just planning ahead.

Thanks again.

The non-ho's also use 14# injectors, so you need them too..
