Holley systemax 2 + Vortech A trim?
Is there anyone out there who has a similar combo? I`m looking for a few horses more and might pick up an a trim this week. Here are my concerns -
Will my 24pph injectors and pro m-77 work with say 5 lbs of boost? Any input and/or advice is appreciated, Thanks |
I'd go with some 30 pounders with a 80mm maf. Don't want to end up running lean with that much hp.

Dave, you may want to swap out that Holley cam though, it has a lot of overlap and will send some boost out the exhaust so you will see slightly less.
With those heads and intakes the A-trim may be too small even if you spin it up with some pullies, and I thought you wanted a ATI. The P1SC would give you room to grow as it will make more boost and flows a lot more air then a A-Trim and would give you some intercooling in that Florida heat if you get that option. I would go 36# injector or higher (42#) and not run the FMU, that 77mm is fine. My dad runs a A-Trim on his 93 Cobra, extruded honed intakes, ported stock GT-40 heads, 2031, 83mm Pro-M, 36# injectors and he spins the A-trim 43,000rpms @ 5800rpm which really is over the efficency rating from Vortech which is 40,000 rpms impeller speed. He plans to step up to the T-trim since he really doesn't want to over spin the A-trim and it will feed more air. Another thing to consider is if you go A-trim you don't get the boost a pump (T-Rex) ($150+) which you will need, or the boost retard ($200+) which you will need over 6psi to be safe, especially in the heat. The A-trim comes standard 6 rib, the S-trim is 8rib which is better for belt slippage issues. I plan to get some spray this winter/spring because I can not afford the D1R intercooled set-up I really want with building a new house next year. |
Hey Rick, After I placed the post I got talking to Idle Wild and was told pretty much the same thing. The new idea is 36pph inj, new cam,msd ign. and an inline fuel pump. I`m looking at a paxton right now. My goal is to get one before Christmas and have it put on in March or so.
