Post Holley Systemax intake

I just bought that new Holley Systemax intake. I think my Ported TFS heads are mismatched to my current GT-40 with a ported lower, so I made the swap. I should have time to put it all back together this weekend and will be at the track on Saturday the 13th for some numbers.

Does anyone have this intake? Or some dyno numbers that show a real gain? I really don't trust what I read in the magazines all the time.

I am also selling my ported GT-40, so if anyone wants a good intake for 375.00 gimme a shout.

Cool, I actually think it will help on motor as well, depending on the cam and heads you have you will be bale to get a little more rpm out of the motor.

Here are my tips and tricks...

DON'T HOOK UP THE PCV TO THE HOLLEY SUPPLIED VACUUM TREE, tap a hole in the intake tube @ 6" from TB and thread a pipe nipple in, run the PCV to that. This will fix the oil pulling issue with the intake, with the PCV hooked up to the intake tree it pulls oil and it will drip out the TB and suck the motor dry..been there done that. I'll send you some pics.

It also made life much easier my making studs instead of using the bolts for the upper. You will need to use a 1262 gasket since the ports on the lower are so damn huge, and if you run the external EGR, use a hex head bolt instaed of the allen bolt that Holley supplies.

You may need a Spacer to clear your adjustable FPR if you run the tree on the backside of the intake (I think it looks better there) You may also need a spacer depending on the valve covers you have. If you run into anything shoot me a e-mail, work rhawver@strouse.com or home Rick91GT@onemain.com.

Thanks for the help. I was wondering about the necessity of a spacer with that intake. I had to use one on my GT-40, but I was not sure about this one. I do have the tall motorsport valve covers, but they are black with the finned aluminum lettering. They look a little shorter than the big square polished Ford ones. This supposed to be the best intake around, even beating my GT-40 down low on torque. I have TFS heads that are ported to a 1262 gasket. They have a really nice port job on them. Problem is my dyno numbers peaked at 5000 RPM, and the torque peak was at 4700 RPM!!! That tells me the motor is falling on it's face up top. I don't think the problem is my E-cam/1.72's, but the limited flow capabilities of the GT-40/Cobra intake.

Thanks again for the info,

Rob

There is a guy on the Corral that tells me he runs 118mph on motor with stage 2 TFS TW heads, a box stock holley intake, "mild cam" and a stock short block.

Im very interested to see your numbers.

How about this??? Look at my sig, this car weighed in at ~3460-3475Ibs with me in it. My heads only have a pocket porting, and gasket matching done to it. The intake is out of box and the cam ....... well u can read

Oh yea, your cam maybe choking your engine a lot more than U think. Your powerband will move up ~200-300RPM but not much more. U will gain a little more up top as well (within the ~200-300RPM). I know this cos I went from a tubular GT40 with 1260 sized ported lower to this current setup and I was as happy as a clam

After gutting out clogged cats and a much better tune. Took Nitrous out for warranty work didn't have time to put back in for track.
