Question How to clean EGR?

How do I clean my EGR valve? Is this a hard job? Is a new one expensive.

My car hesitates, idles rough and stalls out. It only does this sometimes. will cleaning out my EGR help this?

Unfortunately those types of problems can be caused by a few different problems. EGR is one of them. The very first thing you should do is get yourself a code reading tool and retrieve your codes from the computer. If you get codes, fix the problems reported and get back to us.

What else could be causing these problems?

What code reading tool should I buy?

If you can wait a while, I'll post a picture on how to read codes without a scan tool. If you can't wait, you can get a tool at an autoparts store. Don't get anything fancy. Just one of the ones that run about $30. It basically a couple switches with a light and a beeper on it. It pretty much does what you can do with just jumpering a wire or two.

Failing sensors can cause those problems, vacuum leaks, fuel injectors, fuel pump, relays, etc. Code reading is a good way to find out if any sensors are failing. If no codes are there, then it's a long tedious process of elimination.

Where is the EGR on my 92GT. I have never been able to find it. Could someone post a pic and point it out or circle it on a pic on my website or something? I have had people try to describe where it is and I just can't find it My EGR has been giving 'out of range' codes for a while.
