![]() I finally finished re-installing my NOS Big Shot today and I took it out for a spin to see how it worked. The electical problem that I was having is fixed, but now it runs way too rich instead of lean like it used to. I had some buddies following me just in case something happened, and when I hit the spray, the car bucked like crazy and the motor was popping, and my friends told me that there was tons of black smoke coming out of the tailpipes.
Since it was running lean before, I upgraded to a 255 lph in-tank pump. Timing was at 7 degrees (just to be safe -- I run 21 normally). My spark plugs are gapped at .038" and I run 93 octane. Fuel pressure is at 38psi and the kit is set at 150 hp, and I checked the jets and they are correct. Where do I go from here? ![]() My only thought would be to take the jets down a couple sizes. Obviously with less jet there'd be less fuel. Although that might not be a solution, it's a fix. Maybe you'r fuel solenoid is jacked up or something.

![]() dont start messing with jets. if you are sure you have the right jets for a 150 shot then use them. changing jets is bad idea and is left to the seriously knowledged tuners. the way to lean out a system is to lower fuel pressure. but you dont want to lower it more than the car need when n/a. you may need to put a reg. inline on the fuel feed line. this is what happens when you get a fuel system that is too big for your motor.
also, check the bottle and be sure its full and is at proper operating pressure. the bucking can sometimes happen when you get down to 3 lbs in bottle. and 7 timing? cautious is good but not that much. with a 150 shot i set most motors up with 34 full advance timing to start. or 12 initial. running 7 timing may be hurting you. a nitrous motor should run good and be tuned right when n/a then use the juice. |
