How do I keep my header bolts in??!?!?
I spent 2 hours (POS MAC HEADER) changing the header gasket on the drivers side because the bolts worked thier way out.
I drive it 30 min and notice another exhaust leak. Well 3 bolts have worked their way out on the passenger side now! ARGGGG... Im pissed off, I cranked them down so fuckin tight. What can I do to keep those bastards in? Skyler |
Stage 8 locking header bolts. You can get them at Summit or Jegs. I have a set now that I plan to use shortly.

Thanks Jim.

Sky any new numbers on the N20? |
Yep, I have a set of Stage 8 bolts on my headers... and love them. Never had a problem with them backing out.

I love working on exhaust:rolleyes:
your bolts are falling out and I bet I couldn't get mine out if I wanted to. If you can get them to stay in for a month or so they should nicely rust into place and that's where they'll stay. I had my H-pipe with new bolts for less than a year and when I had to take it off again I snapped a couple of them right off |
I tried the stage 8 locking header bolts and didnt like them. Sent them back and got my $45 back. They didnt clear the headers right and were more trouble to install than they were worth to me.
Do you retighten your header bolts after a couple heat cycles? If not, try that. Works for me. |
Which part didn't clear the headers? The instructions mention that posibility and recommended modifying the part that slides over the head of the bolt.

i liked the stage 8. i had one problem like mach 1 and i didnt use the washer to make it fit. of course that is the one that backed out, what would you expect. overall, they beat the hell out of the ones my hookers came with.
