Default how does it look?

Finally got this motor halfway apart and I dont know what I am looking at.This is to be my spare motor that I will tinker with from time to time. This car was ran hard since bought new in 92 and I need to know if it is in good shape to use this block.I searched and found little on this matter so I will try to post a pic. This block has about 116k miles and was running fine when I parked it.I just decided to replace and upgrade the motor as it was very tired but just would not die.Does this cylinder look normal?they are all the same as this and I know nothing of crosshatching. What can I look at to determine if this block is worthy of a spare motor?
