14.75 with h-pipe and flowmaster catback also have cold air inka bbk

Coupe5oh 01-14-2002 01:37 AM

Well i have to be heard on this, elevation might play a role in this, but if anyone remebers my old sig, I had at one time: just removed silencer, box with knN, all cat cvters, 3cbr mufflers, aluminum d/s, going 14.1's.

with electric fan and swaybar removal, i nailed a 13.91 on little tires in sig with a 2.0 60', i could have made a 13.80 easily i know, now with my h-pipe and SFC's, and my friends e,t, streets, i ran 13.6 on a very humid night, and the tires were to low psi bogging, with more air in them i could have cut a 1.7 and seen 13,4

but unit i dont believe your car will trap more than 100mph, maybe 99, but being you can stay in 3rd you will be close, but with stock h-pipe i dont see it happening, plus the stock cluch fan really drags a stang down on the topend. your looking at g-teck maybe.

Rick 91GT 01-14-2002 08:34 AM

Well bone stock except a Flowmaster American Thunder cat back, I went 14.7 @ 95 or so if I remember correctly, that was with a 5spd and 2.73 gears on BFG's COMP TA's 245/45/16ZR tires, I don't remember the exact 60ft but it was 2.0, and I have no idea what the light was.

I agree with poopstang..A LOT IS IN THE DRIVER.

Blownpony91- Where at in MD are you? Use to live in MD but moved to get away from all the emissions bull, now I'm right over the MD/PA line.

Muscle Mustangs and fast fords did an article a few years ago about this exact topic. the article was all naturalally aspirated, and while some of them were extreme engines, a few of them were mostly stock.

the one that comes to memory was an 87 LX. stripped, slicks, 5 speed, weighing 2400 lbs, launching at some oddball rpm, something like 5000 rpm, ran a low 12 at something like 105. i forget exactly what the specs were. i will try and find the article and get back to you.

but it is veeeeery possible. it is all DRIVER and WEIGHT.

Jeb_Bush_2000 01-14-2002 11:23 AM

It's weird how the trap speeds and ETs differ.

Rick 91GT trapped a mile per hour faster than me, but with a six-tenths higher ET...guess that means he had better top-end but I got a better launch?

Blownpony91 01-14-2002 12:39 PM

Rick, im from the baltimore area.

Dark_5.0 01-14-2002 12:54 PM

Well I am from the Manchester/Westminster area and I lived in the Reisterstown area for about 2 years. I actually have some buddies from the Glen Burnie area and I have raced at Capitol although Fri nights there can get crazy.

I usually race at 75/80 or Mason Dixion and did hit Cecil County a few times last year as well.

I won both of the Ford Shootouts last year at 75/80.

gtsr515 01-14-2002 02:40 PM

Well, I never ran with 2.73's, my car came with a 3.08.

But, the "stockest" I ran it was with a short belt and a race crank pulley, but that was with slicks and it went 13.40, I forget the mph.

SKYWLKR 01-14-2002 03:00 PM

I went

13.30@101

stock full weight 88 GT with pep boy tires on a high 1.8 60 ft.

car has cat X-pipe, dyno max cat back,Ram air and timing advance.. thats it. still stock gears (posi went last trip so she might get some 3:27 's soon).

fast as I've seen..... I am going for 12's with nittos ,iceing intake and short belt.

rick8750 01-14-2002 03:56 PM

13's stock... NOT

I don't consider gears and exhaust stock. I have had 4 mustangs and i think i'm an ok driver with 15 years of street racing experience. and i can say that i have NEVER run mid 13's on a bone stock mustang even with slicks and a good launch. Alot of blood sweat and tears went into all of my decent sprints.

rbatson 01-14-2002 04:12 PM

He didn't ask about a stock car... he asked about stock motor..

My car was a 15sec ride with the stock motor(aod vert).

rick8750 01-14-2002 04:31 PM

well, I stand corrected. Thankyou.

Coupe5oh 01-14-2002 04:49 PM

Rick, how do you stand corrected? now talking about weight, I could have dropped my spare, and my smog pump, and maybe dropped an extra tenth? so with e.t. streets, and before all of the mods in my sig(wow my `oh so powerful mods) i could have gone 13.8's. It has alot to do with driving, im still using a stock shifter too, On my 13.9 run i was launching at idle, thats all my 225/60's would take, i'll admit, i only ran that once on street tires, and the electric fan and swaybar removal isnt stock, but I believe all stangs should have came with electric fans.:p

Then again i see guys running stock fox gt's that can't break outta the 15's, even with gears and free mods.....

Rick 91GT 01-14-2002 05:06 PM

I see that at the track all the time you have some good running cars and some bad, I still feel a lot is in the driver and I guess it depends what day of the week that motor was put together.

At the track I race guys with blower, N2O, and strokers and beat them all day long, they always scream cheater and that I have a stroker, they can't seam to get it through their thick skulls that you ca have a good running NA 302, it really shocks them to see it bring the wheels off the ground:D

Wait till this season:D:D

5ohCOUPE 01-14-2002 06:10 PM

The last post i put in here was with an H pipe and K&N. This will give you an idea of what a totally stock stang will run. This was when i first got it. Stock H pipe and no K&N. Just bumped up timing And thats it. On slicks. 14.12 @ 96. On radials. 14.41 @ 94. Of course this is a coupe so its a little lighter than a GT or Hatchback.

Blownpony91 01-14-2002 06:31 PM

Rick,
i ride through glen burnie every once and a while but lately ive heard that the cops are cracking down on people. i havent had the chance to go any where but capital, but i heard that mason dixon is really nice track.
are you going to be going to any ford meets this year?

Yeah..the last time I crusied down there a lot of cops were out, they look for off road pipes down there, atleast I have PA tags now.

I plan to hit all the meets this year at 75/80 (I need to defend my title:D) and Mason and Cecil, and if all goes well I will be racing at the NMRA Ford Nats in Maple Grove. I'll let you know when they are and maybe you cna make a few.

I just started taking my car apart for all the winter/spring additions, I am getting the car painted and may be adding a few small goodies. It just has to be all together for the Ocean City Hot Rod Weekend in May, what a blast that is, we trailered my car down last year but it rained a lot only drove it a little bit down there.

Keep In Touch,

Rick
