Yep, it is that easy. You need a 7\32 deep well socket (1\4" drive). Thre reason there is a special tool is because in the v6's the distributor is in the back of the motor. A deep well socket is too long. It hits the firewall. I remember this from my old 2.9 ranger. Some modules actually have torx screws in them. The special tool has both on it. You can get it at AutoZone for like $8.
