How to install lower control arms?
What to do about the spring? does a shop have to do this? or can it be done in my driveway? thanx fellas....
|
Just jack up the car pretty high and put it on jackstands under the unibody. Then lower down the axle and the spring pressure will be gone. Make sure the axle is supported at the bottom point of travel.

Exactly as badstang said. The only pain in the arse is getting the spring back on. I'm on the same project as you and having trouble getting it back on. I'm going to try compressing the spring with hose clamps tomorrow. Any other ideas?

lol, 94gt, just laughing at your sig,
yea well how does the spring fit there? is it complicated as it sounds?:( I rely on my car daily, and cant afford to turn this into a 1 week project, badstang thanks alot, it sounds easy enough, im just worried about the springs now:D does the spring actually come off? or does it just hang there? dont wanna kill someone with it you know....thank guys. |
When putting the spring back in just use a floor jack under the lower arm and jack it up. It should fall right into place. I usally tape the new isolaters to the spring with some masking tape to keep it all together.
Good Luck! |
the spring is no big deal it dont have barely any pressure on it. and it when putting it back on it goes right back into place. getting the bushings into the torque boxes was the *****. i had a five pound rubber sledge and beat the shiz out of it for an hour until it finally went in. just get a few buddies to come over and buy a few cases of the laughing brew and its a piece of cake.

WATCH THE BRAKE LINE from that attaches to the center of the axle, not to overlower, and pull it off.
Some simple Autozone spring compressors outta help you out. No biggie, I have done this SEVERAL times. :) http://www.dariusrudis.com/mustang/s...es/t-arm01.jpg |
