Default Intakes...

I'm having a big delima about my intake. I am pretty sure my current NEW intake is warpped because it won't seal correctly. I have tons of vacume leaks. Edelbrock is out of stock until the TENITIVE date of 10/1/02. (BTW: I have an Edelbrock Victor 5.0 intake) It is empairative that I have a working car by the end of the week. I can maybe hold off until middle of next week.

What other kind of intake (upper and lower) will handle my setup? I need something that can handle about 450RWHP!

Trick Flow R would be your best bet.

Is the problem at the lower/heads, or upper/lower? Get a machinest strait edge and a feeler gauge. Then you will know for sure.

Would it be benifical to take the intake to a machine shop and have them smooth it out?

If it is warpped then yes. They can fix it no problem. If they have to shave allot off the lower you may need to run thicker intake gaskets.

Why in gods name are you putting a Edelbrock Victor 5.0 intake on you car? It will make no power acording to the combo i read about your car. Just get the Performer for the combo you currently have.

yeah, what he said.

A good machine shop should be able to fix you up.

You could always try a Systemax lower with a Cartech upper.

I'm getting ready to use that same intake on my car. I hope I don't have the same problems. Please let us know what you find out.

You are putting this on something other than the stock motor you list right?

Question rather curious

I just read the link to your car......are you buying or using this intake for future purposes,or what?

But to answer your question Eddy Vic 5.0 intakes are notorious for not fitting properly, check out the Jan 2001 issue if you have it they have a great test in there on the TFS R,Systemax, and the Eddy Vic 5.0,somewhere on that intake(sorry do not have the issue in front of me)they have always had to machine the intake to get it to fit,I cannot see a brand new intake being warped unless it was ran over by a truck.

Cool

Don't get mad at me, Did you use sealer on both sides of the intake gaskets. Right or wrong I don't know, but I allways use plenty of Ultra Black.

Well, I finally got it. The vacume leak was from the lower intake to the heads... the stupid ppl from the autoparts store game the the wrong gasket number. I compared both the old and new gaskets together, and they are very close. You couldn't tell the difference with out compareing them next to eachother... But anycase, that was my problem. The upper intake is fine.

Who ever said that my car was stock? If you look in my profile, you can't always believe what you read
