Post Difficulty of steel TOB retainer install??

I just got my steel TOB retainer in the mail form Summit the other day. The directions say that you must be careful prying the old retainer off or the needle bearings will fall into the transmission. I am going to try and install it this weekend and I am just trying to find out what to expect. Anybody have any experience with installing these?? My car has been eating t/o bearings and I want to get it taken care of before winter. Thanks.
