Default How to set the timing

I just put a f303 cam and aluminum heads on my 92 5.0 motor. Msd distributer and Msd 6al box. Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to set my timing? and also how long do you think i can ride without a tune?

well providing you have the distributor in correctly, use a timing light cliped around the #1plugwire,there will be a plug next to the dist. plug with a gray thing pluged into it,take it out.then start it up and put it at 15..u might have to mark the 15 spot on the balancer so you can see it....

Also,....loosen the dist hold down bolt, and turn the dist clockwise to advance the timing, counter to retard it, once you get it where you want, hold the dist in place, have someone kill the engine, tighten dist down without moving it, replace spout connector, start engine. Done. Good luck.

It wont run correctly til you tune it. Although depending on the heads, the F cam isnt THAT much larger of a cam then a stock one. It might have been fine with just the heads. Hope you checked PTV clearance.

you can get that thing to run good with out a tune just messing around with fuel pressure and timing and have the correct injectors with the correct maf sensor housing for the injectors.i personally thing paying some 1 to tune and burn a chip is a waste when u can just buy a computer and plug it into your lap top and tuen it every time you do a mod rather then get a chip burn every time.plus if u get nitrous or a sc all u gotta do is plug in to the car and tune it.f cam is alot bigger then a stock the stock is like .440 lift and the f is
.512 and alot more duration.

Stock HO - .444/.444 lift, 204/204* @ 0.50
FMS B303 - .480/.480 lift, 224/224* @ 0.50
FMS E303 - .498/.498 lift, 220/220* @ 0.50
FMS F303 - .512/.512 lift, 226/226* @ 0.50
FMS X303 - .542/.542 lift, 224/224* @ 0.50

There is a huge difference between the stock HO and F303 camshafts.
