HP Question on Combo Cam, upper, lower intake. Work starts Monday

Ok guys, I have a Polish and ported stock 93 intake with a stock ported lower intake. And I also have a brand new E-303 Cam, and rollor lifters. What is the HP I will have with only these parts .

Oh and one more thing, is a 89 TB the same as a 93??

MikeWeber 01-06-2002 10:24 PM

The TB are the same.
Hp increase should be about 40-hp near 6000 with a significant loss of low speed torque. Peak power may only increase 10-15 hp around 5400-5600. Power shouldn't drop like it does with the unported intake and stock cam combination. With unported stock heads, a smaller cam would probably work better with the same hp increase with less torque loss.

Come on? Anymore input on this subject?

Lemme reach back and pull some numbers outta my.. ahem.

240hp. In other words, you're not gonna pick up much. Keep the stock cam until you get heads. ;)

Hey Mikeweber name me a smaller cam than the E303 if you can.I just want to know.

MikeWeber 01-07-2002 01:14 PM

Crane Compucam 2020
208/216 .530/.530 LC 112

Crane Compucam 2031
214/220 .468/.498 LC 112

Crower 15510
212/212 .531/.531 LC 114

All of these would work better in a stock headed motor. The E303 cam is a great cam. I'm running it in my Pure Street car until I can build a custom short block with custom cam. But it does have it's best applications with it's 110 lobe center and 110 lobe centerlines in a higher reving motor with good flowing cylinder heads. It tends to be a bit peaky, holding on to the power better in the upper rpms (5800+) than it's 220 duration figures would lead you to believe.

Cool, well I will let you know how things go. Today I took my engine apart for the first time. The lifters well worn, header gaskets were blown, Timeing chain was way to worn out, GOOD LORD!! And the cam? Well Worn to. Hey, what can I say for a X-Trooper Mustang that has 153K on it and I bought it with 89K. I am instaling a new Timeing chain, roller lifters, Ported upper intake and lower ported to the max, and a E-303 cam. All my heater stuff is comming of because we dont need that here in Miami. And the engine parts is going to have a fresh coat of paint.
