I can get a good deal on a Powerdyne S/C...should i buy it

Im debating on buying a powerdyne 6psi super charger because i can get it for under 1200 brand new in the box. Right now im running low 13's with the combo in my sig. What do u think i would be running with this super charger added to it? i wouldnt break in to the 11's would I? Ill also be adding a 76mm maf at the same time because i still have the stock one. Please help fast....I need to decide before it is sold.

thanks for the help,

Why not get it?? A supercharger is a supercharger. Powerdyne's have come a long way in their development. Plus you don't have that annoying sound that the Vortech and paxton models deliver. Plus you don't have to tap into your oil pan with a powerdyne. Their self oiling. I don't think you'd hit 11's with just 6 psi...should be a low/mid 12 second car though. Good luck.

thanks for the help,

Well i'm not gonna say for sure that you will..i don't know how good of a driver you are. But 9psi would do really well for your setup. Good luck.

Driver is not an issue, i race a tube chassis mustang every weekend that i have been an 8.80 @165 with. Im just new to the fuel injection / street car scene. Tonight i went a 13.03 @ 103.5 with a 1.77 60ft on hard, 10 year old, 9 inch goodyear d-3 slicks. So i figure just putting a bigger maf i should dip into the 12.9's next weekend (i still have the stock one now). So based on those numbers do you think i will dip in the 11's with the powerdyne with the 9psi pulley? What MAF do u recommend with what injectors?

thanks for the help

Go with the 30lb ers, The worst thing you can do on a blown app is fuel starve it. Is there a FMU coming with your powerdyne? If not be sure to either looking into getting one or at the very least an adjustable fuel pressure reg. If you've got the money go for it. Good luck

Yeah 30lb sounds pretty right for your application. Yeah definately get a FMU if it doesn't come with one. You don't need to starve it on the top end. You should be good for 11's then. Since you've gone 8.80 @165. Were not too far away..we should get together one weekend and go racing when I get my car done. Shoot me a pm or something.

Just remember when going with the belt driven Powerdyne that some last and some don't (with regards to the internal belt). I ran mine for 6,000 miles without a problem. It was dead silent and made good power for an entry level blower.

With the mods in my sig and a 6lb Powerdyne, I dynoed a best of 400.3rwhp/386.9rwtq. With the larger crank pulley and powerpipe, I was seeing 9psi. I never was able to run it at the track with that set-up though.

If it's the basic Powerdyne kit, they normally don't come with an fmu. Mine didn't come with any extra's so I had to buy the fmu, gauges, fuel pump, etc.

Good luck.
