I can't wait. New ET's are coming - US 41 this Saturday!!

How much damage do you guys think a set of slicks will do to my car with stock axles, and no torque box reinforcements or subframe connectors? I'm worried about my tranny too, but I need an excuse to get a TKO anyway. Would it be worse to put slicks on and try to take it easy on the launch which would probably bog my car down, or leave my bald @ss street tires on the car and try to ease it off the line?

And who's coming to US 41 this Saturday?

Also, what happened to the other topic I had in here about the track rental? Did somebody delete it?

Put on the slicks, rev it to about 5000 and dump the clutch!!! YEEEE HAAAWWW http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif If you break the T5 or anything else, it's just an excuse to get new and better stuff. http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

If you try to ease her out of the hole with slicks, you will most likely bog and it really won't be worth it. Just my opinion.

Good luck this weekend!

BTW - where is the US 41 track located?

Thanks, E

just leave your bald tires on so we can pair up and I can whoop your *** http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

if you had another car to drive then i'd go for the slicks but since you dont then i'd wait if i were you, i'll let you put my nitto's on for a pass or two if you dont use slicks

i guess you could just drive the old neon if you break something thought http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/smile.gif

Good Luck

Hey Kevin, did you get your rear end problems fixed? I bolted my blower on yesterday so I will be running 12's Saturday. Couldn't let all that horspower sit on a bench in my garage.

Put the slicks on there and don't worry about it. I have an easy 100 passes on my car on MT drags. Every pass I dropped the clutch at 5400 or so and the axles and 190,000 mile tranny still work fine. The only problem I have had is the differential quit working on my last pass I made. I have just as much if not more power then you are supporting and have had good luck... I guess you could go out there and snap an axle on the first pass, or hell it might go 1000 passes with no problem. It's just the luck of the draw I guess. You have nothing to loose. So go for it! And good luck!

I'm not sure if it is the gears Craig. It may be this tranny getting ready to go south on me. It's making all kinds of weird noises when I'm on the highway. And when accelerating it sounds like it's ready to fly apart. I'll bring my other T5. It jumps out of 2nd and reverse, but it should get me home.

Another problem I have is there is a noise coming from the passenger side rear suspension. I haven't been able to find what's causing it yet. If it's my torque boxes coming loose that may be a problem, and may even be the source of some of my vibration. The aluminum driveshaft will go in tomorrow. Anyone bringing a welder to the track with them? http://www.mustangworks.com/msgboard/biggrin.gif

well atleast we know its not gonna be hot and humid, the forecast is saying its gonna be a high in the mid-upper 40's

hopefully they'll soak the track all the way down in VHT because the track is gonna be cold, hard, and slick!

No Rick. We pulled the cover off my differential and one of the teeth on the ring gear is busted off so I was scared to try the slicks. And I couldn't come up with the money in time to buy the Nittos so my times sucked. Here's a copy of my best timeslip =(
http://www.indianastangers.com/2Fast.../time-slip.jpg

I couldn't get traction off the line so I had to ease into the throttle, plus I was wheel hopping bad! Then when I hit second the tires would break loose and spin so I had to let off each time I shifted to second. A buddy drove my car and got a 13.5 something or other @106.57 mph so I know I could easily hit 12's with some slicks and control arms since the mph went up 4mph over what it was last time out, but maybe it was just because it was a tad cooler last Saturday.
